In spite of the rainy season, it was fine weather last week. I took a drive to "Sanko temple" on weekend. The temple is called "temple of hydrangea in the hillside".
The first picture of white hydrangea is large-sized American kind, but it is said that there are approximately 200 kinds of Japanese old mountain hydrangeas in this temple.
I felt slightly sorry when I saw the mountain hydrangeas were blooming under the sunlight. Each mountain hydrangea has its own name, but I am not so sure, so I just put some pictures of them.
The flowers which are blooming outside, are not real flowers actually. They are calyxes. Real flowers are tiny ones in central. Some were still buds.
The pink calyxes were in contrast to vivid bluish violet flowers.
There really were various kinds of mountain hydrangea.
I felt like seeing them blooming in the rain next year.
